Honorable Dr. Atty. Francisco Villarica Tankiang received the title of Honorary Fellow, the highest and most prestigious award bestowed by the Royal Institution, Singapore, during its 4th Global Congress and Conferment Ceremony on November 29, 2014 at the Manila Hotel, Philippines.
Hon. Dr. Atty. Tankiang is a Certified Public Accountant, a Lawyer, a distinguished Diplomat, a prominent businessman and a Philanthropist by profession. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Accounting and Bachelor of Laws from Arellano University, Philippines and Doctor of Laws (Sobresaliente) (Honours) from the Universidad de Madrid, Spain. He was appointed by Former President Ramon Magsaysay as the First Philippine Commercial Attaché in Spain. He has managed Far Eastern Surety and Insurance Co., Royal Travels, Inc., Tankiang Development Corporation, Fensat Inc., Kaleen Realty, Inc., amongst many other family businesses. He is the former President of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association and was the first Filipino President of the ASEAN Tourism Association.
The awarding of the Honorary Fellow Scroll, Sash, Medallion and Certificate was led by Dr. Emmanuel Y. Angeles, former Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Philippines and Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution, Singapore, together with Dr. Samuel M. Salvador, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution, Singapore; Dr. Helen Molano, Executive Director of the Royal Institution, Singapore and Dr. Athena Georgene, President of the Royal Institution, Singapore.
