More than two hundred professionals of various disciplines from all over the world attended and witnessed Royal Institution (RI) Singapore’s 4th Global Congress and Conferment Ceremony with the theme ‘ASEAN Integration 2015: Challenges & Directions on Business & Industry, Education and Public Administration’ on 29 November 2014 at the Manila Hotel, Philippines.
The event started with the ribbon-cutting by Hon. Alfredo S. Lim, former Senator and City of Manila Mayor together with Dr. Samuel M. Salvador, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution, Singapore. The congress was addressed by 4 eminent speakers: Dr. Nona Ricafort, former Commissioner of Commission on Higher Education, Mr. Nhan Nguyen, Founder and Managing Partner of BDG Asia, from Vietnam, Dr. Ethel Agnes Valenzuela, Senior Specialist of SEAMEO-INNOTECH and Hon. Alfredo Lim, former Senator and City of Manila Mayor.
Dr. Ricafort delivered the keynote address examining the impact of ASEAN Integration 2015 on the three sectors: Business & Industry, Education and Public Administration. The three other distinguished speakers shared their insights on the impact of ASEAN Integration in the year 2015 on their fields of Business and Industry, the Education and the Public Administration sectors respectively.
Following the Congress was the conferment of Hon. Dr. Francisco V. Tankiang, the first Filipino President of the ASEAN Tourism Association, former Philippine Commercial Attache’ of the Embassy of the Philippines to Spain and the current President of Royal Travels, Inc., as an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution, Singapore. This is the highest and the most prestigious award and recognition bestowed by the Royal Institution. 145 local and international professionals were then conferred the titles of Research Fellow, Fellow (Life), Fellow, Senior Member and Member of the Royal Institution, Singapore.
