More than 200 professionals gathered at the Century Park Hotel, Manila, Philippines and took part in Royal Institution’s (RI) 5th Global Congress and Conferment Ceremony with the theme “ASEAN Integration: Impact on Business & Industries, Education and Public Administration.”
Dr. Athena Georgene, President of RI, Singapore and Dr. Helen Molano, President of RI, Philippines, started the event with a ribbon-cutting and launching of the research paper poster exhibit. Authors include: Dr. Lovell M. Abello, Dr. Manuelita G. Valencia, and Dr. Chere’ C. Yturralde of Angeles University Foundation; Ms. Ma. Christina G. Aquino of Lyceum of the Philippines University; Dr. Carmencita L. Castolo and Prof. Diana Lee Tracy K. Chan of Polytechnic University of the Philippines; Dr. Jordan T. Salvador of University of Dammam; Atty. Irene D. Valones of the Supreme Court of the Philippines; Engr. Geoffrey T. Salvador and Mr. Arvin Jay D.R. Austria of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
Dr. Samuel M. Salvador, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and Honorary Fellow of RI, Singapore delivered the keynote address with a discourse on the present state, developments, and challenges of the ASEAN Economic Community. Four eminent speakers addressed the congress: Dr. Ir. Aisyah Endah Palupi, Education & Culture Attache’ of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia; Mr. Howell V. Mabalot, President and CEO of HVM Training; H.E. Truong Trieu Duong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and Dr. Valentino G. Baac, Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Emilio Aguinaldo College. The plenary session speakers shared their insights on the impact of ASEAN Integration on their respective fields of Business & Industries, Education, and the Public Administration.
The Research Paper Presentations on ASEAN Integration that followed the Plenary Session were moderated by Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, Dean of the College of Science and Dr. Norberto V. Caturay, Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The Congress was concluded with a synthesis from Dr. Atienza. Following the congress is the presentation of the Honorary Officers of the Royal Institute of Acupuncture, Singapore.
The event’s highlight is the Conferment of Hon. Dr. Ruperto P. Somera, Chairman of RPS Tax Consultancy as an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution, Singapore. This is the highest and the most prestigious award and recognition bestowed by the Royal Institution. 131 professionals were also conferred with the titles of Research Fellow, Fellow (Life), Fellow, Senior Member and Member of the Royal Institution, Singapore.
Due to this success, RI, Singapore will hold its 6th Global Congress & Conferment Ceremony on December 12, 2015. To be conferred the highest and most prestigious award of Honorary Fellow is Rev. Fr. Dr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, Rector Magnificus of the Royal and Pontifical University of Santo Tomas.
